Bug Identification

Insect identification is an important part of service of the Extension Service.  As volunteers, the Master Gardeners help with these duties.  In order to help us be more effective in helping you (the    person with the unknown insect) we will need some material from you.

When you collect a specimen, also please collect as much information about  the insect as you can.  If you can not take an actual specimen (too fast, might bite or yuck), take photographs, preferably digital (see below).

This web site has a great discussion on how to take a digital picture for use in identifying  things.

If you need help identifying a bug, please feel free to e-mail us or call and speak to an agent at 850-892-8172 between Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30 pm.
