Family & Consumer Sciences provides educational programs in the areas of: nutrition and health, food safety, financial and resource management, home ownership and other life skills
On-going programs
The Family Nutrition Program (FNP) is now available for groups that meet eligibility criteria. Groups must have at least 50% of participants who are Food Stamp eligible. Schools must have a student population that is at least 50% Free and Reduced Price Lunch eligible.
Home and Community Educators (FCE) clubs, formerly known as "Extension Homemakers," meet monthly and have interesting programs and fun activities. The mission of HCE is "to strengthen individuals, families and communities through education, leadership and action." To find out when and where a club meets near you, please call the office.
My Florida Home: First-Time Homebuyer Class prepares prospective homeowners for the home buying process and for home ownership. Participants learn the skills they need to make the best decisions for their situation.
Part 1: Financial Aspects of Homeownership - Participants learn skills that help them make financial decisions and help them to be successful homeowners.
Part 2: Becoming a Homeowner - Participants learn the benefits and responsibilities of homeownership. Participants also learn skills to help them in the homebuying program from house hunting tips to the closing process.
Part 3: Taking Good Care of Your Home - Participants learn skills to maintain their home. They also learn tips to save energy and to be good neighbor.
